sound practice in action
The Level 1 AST Certification Training Program: Instructional Portion will introduce the professional to Auditory Skills Training (AST), a form of client/family-centered aural rehabilitation for older children, teenagers and adults with hearing loss who are using newly acquired cochlear implant(s).
Participants who completed the Instructional Portion of Level 1 Certification in AST program engage in group mentoring experience that involves observation of AST sessions, interactive analysis and guidance. Each mentoring day will provide 7 hours of AST analysis and discussion led and moderated by an experienced AST practitioner; taking place via a tele-conferencing platform that is HIPAA compliant.
Auditory-Verbal Practice (AVP) has evolved significantly as a result of the wealth of information the profession gained from the research and clinical best-practices of the past decade. This three-day workshop will provide an in-depth review of these changes and what they look like in the clinic or the families' home today.
The exam for the Level 1 Certification in AST: Instructional Portion is available for participants who completed the course. There will be 10 multiple choice questions on the exam. This exam is only available for those who have taken the Level 1 Certification in AST: Instructional Portion Course.
