Speaking of Which

ERIN SMITH, M.H.Sc., Reg CASLPO is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who provides a variety of speech and language services to preschool and school aged children and their families. As an SLP she provides assessment and intervention for children with language, articulation, fluency, voice and various developmental communication concerns (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome). In addition to her role as an SLP, she has completed additional training in Auditory Verbal Therapy and has experience providing assessment, therapy and consultation to families with children who have permanent childhood hearing loss. Erin is an instructor in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program at Georgian College. She teaches the Articulation and Phonology course as well as monitoring for students while on clinical placements. Erin also regularly supports SLPs in training by providing clinical education during graduate school placements. Since graduating from the University of Toronto in 2000, she has acquired additional training to support her work with families who have children with a variety of communication needs. Training includes: Hanen (It Takes Two to Talk, Target Words) parent education; Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT); Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT).
